This may be the question only you can answer.  We can tell you what the restoration will cost.  We may be able to tell you how much a replacement would be.  But only you know what this item of furniture is worth to you.  We cannot put a value on your mother’s lyre-ended sofa table, or your grandfather’s armchair.  But, if you have answered your question, and believe it is worth it, we will give you many more years of enjoyment from it.

The answer to this depends almost entirely upon its use.  For a waiting room in a doctor’s surgery, we would need something easy to clean that will also be anti-bacterial and anti-microbial.  The reception area in a hotel will need a fabric that blends into the chosen ambience, but durability will also be an important factor.  A sofa for the home must be to the taste of the family, but we will probably ask whether young children will be scrambling over it.  An antique chaise longue being restored for the auction room will need a fabric in keeping with its age.  And, because we understand that cost also matters, we will not always answer this question with the word ‘Leather’.

We are in demand, and, like most businesses, we do have our busy times, but our joiners, upholsterers and seamstresses are experts, which means they can work a great deal more quickly than most amateurs.  “A surprisingly short time” is the most likely answer, and, if you have a deadline, such as a special family event, or a business launch, we will do everything we can to help.

Probably.  If you have the time, the space, and a properly equipped workshop.  You will need a lot of tools, to say nothing of a range of foams and fabrics, springs and webbing, glue and threads.  An industrial sewing machine is a help, too.

And, we don’t want to discourage you, but you might need a First Aid kit.
